Description

The political instability in the Black Sea region, the lack of territory control and the serious violation of international treaties and agreements, underline the need for active participation of all international actors in the non-proliferation of AMD. An invaluable role is the continuous education with the objective to make non-proliferation treaties universal. A curriculum for the Nuclear Safety and Security subject (ECTS 4) was developed at the National Nuclear Security Support Center (NNSSC). The curriculum was designed for Master's students and includes lectures, seminars and the writing of a paper. The NNSSC puts special emphasis on developing the teaching staff through the synergy of nuclear safety, non-proliferation and cyber security. As CTBT and NPT are inextricably linked, the curriculum has been updated recently with topics on non-proliferation, and the role and importance of these international treaties. The cyber-security as a pillar of nuclear safety and security, as well as non-proliferation, was included in this optional curriculum. The results have shown that master students possessed a greater degree of awareness of nuclear safety and non-proliferation than Bachelor graduates did. An important fact to mention is that the optional discipline was requested by more than 25 graduates of other Universities.
