Description
The CTBT, once ratified, would be enormously beneficial for the United States and global security. There are many factors which block ratification, including a lack of communication between scientists and policy makers. The CTBT has languished for so long, that now we must not only revitalize the actors currently responsible for treaty entry-into-force, but also energize the upcoming group of advocates and scientists, many of whom are unaware of the treaty and it’s benefits. In order to bridge this gap, the CTBTO could facilitate conversation and knowledge sharing among students and young professionals in both science and policy. The CTBTO Youth Group could play a role in this process, although some reform to the group’s structure may be necessary in order to most effectively address this issue.
